Portholes to my Youth sewingMixed media (acrylic, paper, and ink) 20" x 16" on paper This painting captures the autumn of my childhood. Memories of cooler temperatures, changing colors, and shortening days all rush back to me. There's a nostalgia for those foggy beach days with crisp winds and washed up seaweeda pang of sadness for the dropping leaves and impending winter weather. These circles are portholes to my youth and bittersweet remembrances of those long ago autumn days.
Sphere Two marks a new direction in my work with a switch to the mediums of oil paint and cold wax
Yarrow One is an original cyanotype on archival watercolor paper
Their compact size invites you to embrace the unexpected
20" x 20" on cradled birch panel
beauty and grace amid adversity this tree has shown as I travel through my own life
I love the dynamic movement in this painting as the fast-traveling cells must detour around a wall of large bubbles
and strangers all around
and shortening days all rush back to me

I add floetrol (an additive that improves flow and leveling of paint) and silicone
which I used to print black ink over an ink-rolled rainbow gradient
