Chateau Caronne Ste Gemme Vintage 2011 VINTAGE WINES 1990A firm Wine Cru favourite. Chteau Caronne Ste Gemme is an estate just south of Saint Julien in the Haut Medoc. Its grand vin is a classic Bordeaux blend, and was classified as a Cru Bourgeois Suprieur of Haut Mdoc in 1932 and Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 1966. Traditional made and does well in the not so great vintages like 2011. Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. Bottle condition, capsule excellent, label

I don't know what the blend is

and a touch of dried leaves

and it was both alive and kicking (and it had had a three hour decant to boot)

It is savoury and does lack all the vibrant fruit of the 2020 and 2019

inspiring the name Gnarly Vines

One of the most consistent wines for many years

The 2018 vintage was very good indeed for both sparkling and still wines of the UK

and renamed from La Fleur d'Aiguilhe to its current name by von Neipperg (who acquired the estate in 1998)
