Sterling Silver Vesta / Match Striker by J Walker, Birmingham, 1888. Antiquarian BooksA very attractive late 19th century sterling silver vesta and match striker, fully hallmarked for J Walker, Birmingham, 1888. The vesta boasts a striking wave form design with a hinged lid and striker to the base. The silver shows some wear commensurate with age, the most notable of which is a small tear to the silver at the top where presumably a loop for a chain would previously have been in place (please see photographs). The lid opens and closes

there are some small losses commensurate with age but overall the stationary box remains in a very good and original condition

the child is holding what seem to be reins and a whip indicating she was originally sat upon a horse

A large cut glass and sterling silver scent / perfume bottle

very striking and attractive

The mercury plate has with patination commensurate with age particularly to the right hand side of the plate (please see photographs)
