Glory mud cracksMt. Rainier Being in a place you have never been before is sometimes a blessing. Not having preconceived notions of what shots to get and instead just shooting where the light presents itself is such a rewarding feeling. I was lost trying to find the upper Tipsoo lake and on my random wanderings I came across this scene.

Sure I had perused through chinese paintings inspired for centuries by this landscape and marveled over the minimalistic approach of my guide Juanli Sun and the work of Alister Benn but that was so far removed from my style of photography it was like I was starting with a clean slate

Got soaked quite a few times while trying to get this shot
